I AM PEACE
I am peace.
I am a rainbow of hope
Valiant and forever freeing
Liberating notions of ignorance
And concepts of jealousy
Destined for greatness
In a vast sea of beauty
In the depths of a spiritual upliftment
Where dominos rise up one by one
And side by side
I am light.
I am a shadow that's run its course
Brushing soot and ash off my shimmering coat
My inner flame burning hotter everyday
Through desolate lands I have wandered
A desert full of mirages and mirrors
Only to be drowned out by a penetrating river
Washing over me with rays from the sun
I am a poet.
I am my world of thoughts and words
Stifling negative vibrations
Sending out harmonious rhythms
Creating a universe out of song
Crowning our heroes and mending our foes
As we unite the separation through our expanding energy

Poem: It Is
It's in an itch that you've forgotten how to scratch
It's in the dark only when you can't seem to find a match
It's in the rich that live in poverty
Sometimes the price you pay is the act of being wealthy
It's in the hearts of all our shadowed thoughts
It's not in our schools because it can never be taught
It's in the place of evil where the spirit sings a song
So eerie and enchanting you'll start to sing along
It's in the juiciest bite of an invigorating pear
When it comes from Mother Nature, you're breathing in her air
It's in the attics of our lives where secrets fall asleep in dust
It's whispering your name through the wind with all its gust
It's in your mosques, churches, sanghas, chakras, temples
Doesn't matter where you are, the message is rather simple
It's in all living creatures, the spirits and the dead
We're different individuals sewn together with golden thread
It's there in the calm nights on the salty seas
And in the tornadoes, hurricanes and all of travesty
It's a slap across a youthful creamy face
It's a homesick lonely soldier's welcome home embrace
It's in the texture of colors that you have never seen
It's in the prickly nests of hallowed out oak trees
It's dead, long gone, forgotten and deceased
But it's come alive, it lives inside, lives in you, lives in me
It's in the dark only when you can't seem to find a match
It's in the rich that live in poverty
Sometimes the price you pay is the act of being wealthy
It's in the hearts of all our shadowed thoughts

Good Quotes for the Week
The basic difference between an ordinary man and a warrior is that the warrior takes everything as a challenge while an ordinary man takes everything as a blessing or a curse. - Don Juan
Failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying. - B F. Skinner
God made everything out of nothing. But the nothingness shows through -Paul Valery
Did you ever notice how difficult it is to argue with someone who is not obsessed with being right? - Wayne W. Dyer
It is simple. We are where we should be, doing what we should be doing. Otherwise we would be somewhere else, doing something else.
“The world doesn't owe you anything. It was here first.” ~ Mark Twain
The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself -Henry Miller
Being nice, patient, responsible people does not make us door mats. Choosing to be the best people possible, regardless how others choose to behave, means we are in control of ourselves rather than simply being the puppet of our irresponsible ego. Ego is NOT capable of choosing our 'best' behavior. So being in control of our ego to create life with positive purpose actually makes us the powerful ones.
Even after all this time,
The sun never says to the earth,
"You owe me."
Look what happens with
A love like that.
It lights the whole sky.
((((( Hafiz )))))

My Friend, written today by me :)
I walk down the hall but the hallway doesn’t end
I try to catch up to my disappearing friend
Running through this maze, it fills my mind with worry
Knowing I’ll one day wake up from this enchanting story
Screaming only helps the battle within oneself to stall
Speech is simply useless unless it’s for the good of all
A silent breath to gain composure, gently take it in
It echoes louder than my screams to help me find my friend
In this darkness she will be my ever illuminating light
But she is still disappearing no matter how hard I fight
Attempting to reach her only pushes her far away
She wants me to surrender, but I just want her to stay
I try to let go of my fears and surround myself with love
It only takes a second and a door opens up above
I climb through the opening and stand before a mirror
And now I see my friend again, it’s never been any clearer
She waves to me from the other side, showing me she cares
I only caught a glimpse but now I know she’s always there

I'm Passing By
I'm just passing by
Breathing in temporary air
I'm just resting for a minute
Clearing my head of mundane fears
I'm basking in this glory
This beautiful heavenly home
Waiting for my time to come
Waiting for time to be undone
I'm just passing by
Breathing in temporary air
I'm just resting for a minute
Clearing my head of mundane fears
I'm basking in this glory
This beautiful heavenly home
Waiting for my time to come
Waiting for time to be undone
I'm just passing by
I'm just passing by with light
Like the bird flying over the horizon
Or the silence that echoes in the still of night
And greets the dawning sun with dew
As dreams ruffle feathers across the globe
And we wake with a yawn to start anew
I'm just passing by with care
Leaping with ecstacy in the melting moments
Breathing in and out this bittersweet air
As it turns my soul into one of pure peace
Fills my loving heart with warmth
And caresses my skin with a gentle breeze
Like the bird flying over the horizon
Or the silence that echoes in the still of night
And greets the dawning sun with dew
As dreams ruffle feathers across the globe
And we wake with a yawn to start anew
I'm just passing by with care
Leaping with ecstacy in the melting moments
Breathing in and out this bittersweet air

Fills my loving heart with warmth
And caresses my skin with a gentle breeze

Words to Live By
Every blade of grass has its ANGEL that bends over it and whispers, 'GROW, GROW.' --The Talmud
"Worry never robs tomorrow of it's sorrow; it only saps today of it's strength" -- A.J. Cronin
"Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself." -- Harvey Fierstein
"If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all." -- Noam Chomsky
"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time." --Sir John Lubbock
"I've been rather awed by the magic that Spirit choreographs... when I do more listening than talking...
more feeling than thinking...
more being than doing...
and more allowing than controlling...
i.e. SURRENDERING!"

You Are Only In Control of 1 Person: YOU!
A wise man recently told me that I need to start opening up more about how I feel about things. I shouldn't let fear of what people think squash my ability to stand up for my beliefs and tell them to the world, even if the whole world thinks I'm crazy.
I always strive to tell the truth, but I have found out that I have a great deal of difficulty being honest about my feelings, not just with other people, but with myself as well. Sometimes the truth really hurts, and sometimes it may get taken personally, or someone may be offended by what I say. The important thing I have to remember is to say it from a place of loving. If it comes from a place of love, for oneself and/or others, and it isn't meant to cause harm but only bring truth, it is something to aim for. I just have to remember that not everyone "thinks" the same way I do. Experiences and beliefs take us each down our own path in life. Ultimately we are all on the same path, but every individual walks that path alone, experiencing things from their own personal perspective.
Some things that have gotten in the way of me being honest about my feelings:
1. I know what I am saying is most likely going to upset the other person
2. I know what I am saying is most likely going to anger the other person
The bottom line? I am only in control of one person: Me. I am responsible for my thoughts, intentions, actions, etc... and taking care of this body that I am very much a part of. But I am not in control of others. I can't control if they turn to sadness or anger by the words I say. My intentions behind them are only to bring about truth and understanding. Sometimes people get upset because they were hoping I will say what they want to hear. By not hearing the words they were "expecting," my words brought them suffering. Sometimes people get angry because what I am saying is something they believe too, somewhere deep down. But in their current state of mind, controlled by their ego, they don't want to hear the truth, so they become angry with my words, suffering yet again.
This has caused me much pain for many years. I have often held my tongue to prevent others from having to suffer. But it causes me to suffer, and therefore I am not really helping anyone. By standing up for what I believe in my heart, and speaking from a place of love, I can accept myself a lot more when those people get upset with me. I have learned that it isn't really me who is upsetting them, but themselves. As long as I speak from a place of truth, love, and non-harming, I am taking care of myself so I can be better to help others. I will always remain sorry, though, that my words did bring about suffering, even if the suffering was out of my control.

Today's Motto: Be Happy!!!
The place to be happy is here. The time to be happy is now!! Be here, be happy, NOW!!! :)
Even in your darkest hour, the light is still shining on you. Have faith that no matter how bad things seem, and no matter for how long things seem bad, that there is always good present with it if you look hard enough. Peace is every step. Drop by drop the jug is filled. Don't let your problems overwhelm you. Face them one at a time, step by step. Remember that YOU control how happy you are, and if others put you down or lose belief in you, you are a child of God, the Spirit, and you are always loved. Don't worry... be happy :)

Eckhart Tolle and Mispelled Words
Waiting is a state of mind, the usual state of mind. Presence is when you're no longer waiting for the next moment, believing that the next moment will be more fulfilling than this one.
BRILLIANT man, Eckhart Tolle. He wrote two amazing books, "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth"
I haven't finished reading either of them, but what he has to say so far, is transforming and beautiful. He has opened up so many people's minds over here in the Western World, and it's spiritual teachers like him that are coming out and helping to transform this New Age.
He reminds us of yin and yang, the tao, duality. You cannot have your beautiful, your gentle, your loving, your happiness, without your ugly, your aggressive, your hatred, your sadness. And you could sum it all up in terms of Light or Dark, Love or Fear. So, don't live your life waiting all the time for the perfect moment to come along. They are all perfect moments. I saw the best bumper sticker today; it said "Relax, God is handling things."
Remember to relax, let go, and let God!!! :)

On another note, I have been writing in the spiritual forums on the worldwideweb recently. I discovered this site just last week, and I've talked to some really wonderful, light-filled, hearts. I'm glad I found this place, because I don't have many people in my life that take the same view points on life and the spiritual world. The funny thing I have noticed, however, writing on this blog and writing in the forums, has made me remember my grammar. I've always been very great at spelling and sort of a perfectionist when it comes to using the write "two, to, too," you get the idea. But I have noticed when I start to write spiritually, and I let my heart guide the words I type, I don't pay attention to spelling as much. A couple times I wrote hear when I should have wrote here. I think this is because words are just words. They have no real concept of what the heart and love really is. And when we become more in tune with the spirit. Words don't seem to matter as much. Silence can be so alive and sound so beautiful, words would never be able to explain it. The spirit is exactly the same.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday. Sending you all my love and light. May the sunshine be bright when you wake in the morning!! Namaste :)

The Trick is to Surrender to the Flow
My first post to this wonderful blog I am creating will help you get an idea of the inspiration to my name and title, surrender to the flow. The name comes from an amazing song by Phish, called Lizards. This song is also the inspiration for the title of my spiritual book called The Happy Friendly Book, in the song they mention The Helping Friendly Book. I made this book by composing a great number of spiritual and peace filled quotes with and pictures of many of the great spiritual teaches, Jesus, Buddha, Mother Teresa, Gandhi, etc...
Since I don't have the finances right now to print even one copy of this great compilation, I decided to create this blog to share the pieces of this book, and continue adding to it, so it is everlasting and full of not just my favorite spiritual quotes, but full of my spiritual thoughts and crazy randomness that makes me human :)
Please enjoy your stay here, and let the love and light shine through for you in the way that is right in your heart.
Namaste
